This regional history museum tells the story of the city of Joliet from its early days as a quarry town to its present day revitalization. The 7500 sq. ft. of gallery space consist of seven distinct thematic zones that represent different eras in Joliet’s history. Exhibits are characterized by the use of colors and materials that are emblematic of each time period. A running thread of “citizen’s stories” provides continuity to the interpretive themes. Mini immersion environments with audio and video elements punctuate the space, giving visitors the sense of walking through time.
