Playing off of Joliet’s strong labor history and the Museum’s eclectic collection of tools, iconic graphics were created to connect the building’s signage to its location and function. Etched stainless steel and faux stone finishes were used to reference Joliet’s identity as “The City of Stone and Steel.” The completed system includes interior and exterior signage and graphics as well as an integrated donor recognition system.

 

The exterior treatment includes a three dimensional mural of cut metal images. The images represent different events spanning Joliet's history, and the use of a mural is a nod to the City's popular mural arts program.
